Protect yourself with Cyber Insurance
You may not be aware that cyber-insurance exists however it is a product used to protect business in the event of cyber-attack. This may be internet based or risks to your IT infrastructure.
It is not common knowledge that risks such as cyber-attack are not covered in the traditional commercial policies. Any cyber incident response costs incurred undoing damage caused such as data destruction, hacking or theft can be covered with the correct policy. Other aspects of cover include reputation protection in the form of public relations post incident and rewards to secure prosecution against the perpetrators and key in the recovery of an organisation in the event this type of attack takes place.

Cyber Essentials Scheme
The Cyber Essentials Certificate demonstrates the organisations commitment to cyber security – it is only awarded in instances where security measures are evaluated and deemed appropriate by the Certification Body allocated.
To achieve the Cyber Essentials certification, the IT Infrastructure is assessed under five technical control themes:
- Firewalls
- secure configuration
- user access control
- malware protection
- patch management
A boundary of scope is established and measured against each of the five technical control themes specified. Evidence of measures is provided to demonstrate compliance with requirements. This is submitted to and assessed by the appropriate Certification Body. It is the Certification Bodies which perform the evaluation and award the Cyber Essentials Certificate.
